Harmony Pai-Sho

 

The goal of Harmony Pai Sho is to create equal numbers of Harmonies and Disharmonies. It is a contemplative exercise meant to remind the players of the Yin and Yang of the universe.

 

The other differences with the main Pai-Sho game are that a player may make Harmonies or Disharmonies with the other player's pieces, and the game isn't to win or lose. Rather, the objective is complete Harmony between the two players. Many believe that this variation is more difficult.

 

Iroh's game in "The Desert" appears to be an example of Harmony Pai Sho.
